Great Views of Trapani and Quick Connection to Erice!

点评：We used the funicular to visit the medieval mountaintop town of Erice during a five day stay in Trapani in April 2026. The Trapani base station is about four kilometres from the historic area of Trapani and can be reached on foot in about an hour, a walk which takes you through the main shopping streets of modern Trapani. We bought our tickets at the station and without any wait boarded a cable car which we had to ourselves. The ride up to Erice took a bit under 15 minutes and provided us with spectacular views of both Trapani and the surrounding coastal areas. The cable car dropped us off at the Erice station of the cable way from which it was only a short walk up to the Porta Trapani entrance to Erice. The funicular ride back down several hours later was equally inspiring and at €30 Euros for two return tickets seemed to us to be well worth the price; although the bus from Trapani port to Erice was less expensive than the funicular, we chose not to use because of its limited frequency and 40 minute duration and because we were looking forward to the views from the funicular which lived up to our expectations. We certainly recommend the Trapani-Erice funicular, at least one way.
