圣约翰大教堂的点评
点评：We visited this cathedral whilst in Malta. We arrived after 10 and there was a large queue. Book your entry tickets on line to join a shorter queue. Your parties jump the queue!
Once inside you are fed around the outside of the nave. Each side chapel is dedicated to the knights of StJohn. The church is opulent dripping in gold with ornate marble grave stones forming part of the floor. Lots of history to listen to and there are numerous paintings done by Caravaggio. ( the famous beheading of John the Baptist) Some were upstairs which was closed today whilst we were there. The church is rammed full of people so you can’t move around freely and have to follow the herd!

Despite having paid an entrance fee, if you are not part of a group you have to use your own mobile phone to listen to the commentary as headsets are not provided. Bring your own ear buds or Bluetooth headset otherwise your arm will ache holding the phone to your ear!
Go early in the morning before the cruise ship parties arrive en mass in tour parties which jump the queue! Everyone is searched on arrival by security.
