Average event space spoiled by poor food/drink choices.
Harrogate Convention Centre的点评
点评：The convention centre has a lot of different spaces. The most interesting and welcoming is the original theatre space that the rest of the centre is huddled against. The rest of the centre ranges from generic halls, to airy white spaces (which apparently used to be a supermarket), to drab and industrial-looking spaces. When we visited recently one of these latter spaces smelt first of spilt petrol, and then later human vomit, but we had no similar troubles with the rest of the environment. Easy access to baby changing facilities was a plus.
The centre provides food and drink under the 'Matchams' brand and really needs to do better. The food is of 'school dinners' quality, is overpriced and is easily outshined by anything offered by any of the cafes and restaurants within walking distance of the site. When we visited on a Sunday they failed to stock any sandwiches at all and a promised hot food table service was cancelled before lunch time without warning or explanation. Cups of tea were priced at a whopping £2.85 and the only alcoholic drinks offered by Matchams were tasteless bottled lagers or generically labelled red wine miniatures of awful vintage, again massively overpriced. Why the centre couldn't run a proper bar - or let someone else run one as a pop-up is beyond me.
