点评:Sadly, my visit yesterday to Farndon Fields with my husband was so disappointing, particularly after having written a glowing 5* review of our previous lunch and shopping experience there. This time, we decided to have afternoon refreshments and my husband's order was the vegetarian afternoon tea, which unfortunately, the waitress subsequently came over to tell us was off the menu; fair enough, but as she had taken the order on a tablet, we'd have thought that would have flagged up immediately. So we decided on a very simple order of cheese scone and chutney for my husband and a toastie for me with pot of tea for 2. From then on, the service went drastically downhill: the tea came first, then my toastie, but the scone didn't materialise. After an age, we called the young waitress over and she said she'd find out what had happened to it. She disappeared off but then never came back, and there was no other waiting staff in sight. After a further 15 or 20 minute wait, while my toastie was getting colder, a young waiter did appear to serve another table and we managed to call him over to ask again about the missing scone so he then went to find out. Eventually, another young waitress appeared with the scone - but no chutney so we had to ask for that and have a further wait while she fetched a small pot of the chutney. She did apologise about the chutney slip up but we never got any explanation as to why such a simple order of a cheese scone could have ended up as a complete drama! While we dismally ate our food, which was okay though my toastie was now cold and the tea stewed and bitter, the original waitress finally appeared to clear other tables but never came over to us with any explanation or apology for not having sorted out the mess. We feel very sad for the complete change in experience and lack of service received this time and obviously won't be going back there again.
