点评：I’ve traveled several times with Gianluca de Franceso, founder of Zanna Tours. Gianluca is a licensed tour guide with very good English. He can arrange any services or itinerary you would like; but is very willing to defer to any arrangement you wish to make yourself. My trips with Gianluca have ranged from those where I dictated every thing and place I wanted to see, to those where I said “show me something new”. Even when I laid out the see-list, he always added more. No commute from the airport has ever been just transportation - he always adds sites along the way.
His passion for Calabria, combined with his wide range of knowledge (current & historical politics, agriculture, history, archeology, art, religion and more) have awakened my love of Calabria and have increased my knowledge of history.
Gianluca drives safely & smoothly in a clean and comfortable vehicle (and for those of you who may be worried, with A/C). His recommended hotels / B&Bs, restaurants, sites and activities have never disappointed. With Gianluca / Zanna Tours as my guide, I always feel that I’m am seeing a slice of the “real” Calabria . He has enabled me to see places and experience things that I never could have without him. A cousin whom Gianluca helped me to locate in our ancestral village, a lifelong Calabrian, said of this this year's trip pictures that we were “giving [them] the opportunity to "know" places that even to us Calabrian people are "unknown".
His companionship is enjoyable, and his patience seems boundless. He is extremely gracious in the midst of some very long days. Never once, despite some very long days with me, has he shown fatigue, impatience or indifference. I will continue to travel with him, and recommend him without reservation to anyone seeking a guide or assistance with genealogical travel in Calabria.
