点评:Sad little roadside zoo, not accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Animals are in chain link cages, not in natural habitats like reputable zoos. Animals can be seen pacing in their small enclosures. Pacing is an indication of lack of stimulation. A recent doctoral study found that larger animals, which have a larger home range in the wild, are particularly prone to pacing in captivity, a behavior known as cage stereotypy. Most reputable zoos attempt to assuage pacing by providing what is known as “animal enrichment.” The big cats are the animals that seem to suffer the most at this poorly maintained and run-down zoo. The tigers have only concrete to spend their life on and their pool was empty. Lots of potted begonias all around but what good does that do for the animals? The only good thing this zoo has going for it is that they have given a home to some surrendered reptiles and birds, but the macaw cages are too small. Admission is high for what it is. Zoo needs an overhaul.
