点评:We did the Maine Tastes 101 class. Registration was quick and easy. Easy parking. The draw here is the amazingly knowledgeable staff who tie each taste (food or optional alcohol) to the Maine food ecosystem, ranging from the historical to the present, and covering a huge range of food providers. The stories are well told and engaging and cover seafood, indigenous traditions and current Passamaquody businesses, food trends, and comparison of Maine with other parts of the country. We knew a lot about Maine food and learned a few new things - other people from "away" learned a ton.
Do NOT count on this class as lunch - it is a learning experience with 6 small bites of locally-made items, such as smoked fish on a potato chip, or aged cheddar on a buckwheat cracker or ricotta on a rye crostini with blueberry syrup or fermented seaweed on a rice cracker. The optional flight has three 3 ounce pours - enough for 2 people to taste. A great introduction. Plan to buy a board for lunch afterward (select your own cheese and meats) - we saw people doing that and enjoying the space.
We arrived early and toured the Maine Food exhibit in the Discovery building and learned a bunch about Maine food (including some pop up information on the AAPI population and foods in Maine). Worth the stop.
