点评:For years, I've driven past the turnoff to this park as I was headed to Julian from the Cuyamacas.
As I've explored the usual sites & trails in the San Diego backcountry, I thought I've give the park a try. (Hiking, picnicking, not camping).
First, we got our picnic lunch from a alt-health grocery store in Alpine, then drove to the Lagunas, enjoying the scenic highway towards Julian.
I spotted the turnoff sign and navigated the slow, winding road, 3-4 miles to the park. It's longer than I expected, but the distance from the road provides total silence upon reaching the entrance.
There's a nominal fee, and the person in the booth will provide a map and directions, if needed. We parked near the picnic area. There's a bathroom nearby, at least two. (Showers, too, for campers).
The picnic area is 1-2 minutes away, with benches.
Facing the nearby hills, feeling the sun on my shoulders, watching the clouds, it's a gentle reminder why I love San DIego County.
