点评:This was a stop on my Valley of Fire tour, but my guide Mike just pointed them out as we drove past without stopping. Too bad.
I didn't know we were passing by and had to get my phone ready which is why I ended up with only one photo.
He mentioned he wasn't sure why it was called Seven Sisters so I had to look it up myself.
It’s called the Seven Sisters because there are seven tall sandstone towers sitting together — people just gave it a gimmicky name because of the number of stones.
They’re chunks of Jurassic Aztec sandstone sculpted by wind and water, so the grouping looks like a little family rather than due to a specific legend or tale.
Looks great from the road: striking and powerful silhouettes as we drove past.
Our itinerary had us scheduled for lunch here but instead we ate at the Visitor Center, which I guess is...okay?
Would have been nice to eat lunch surrounded by these impressive rock formations.
If you’re short on time, this is still worth a quick stop for an up close and personal look.
