点评:Tried this out with my daughter visiting from Auckland — we’d read that a standard 2WD car would be fine, but just a heads-up: the roads can be very narrow (often two-way), steep, bumpy, and after heavy rain, there are some massive potholes. Honestly, a 4WD or a high-clearance vehicle would be much more suitable.
Feeding the animals away from the car is strongly advised — especially the goats, who were very enthusiastic! Bring a $2 coin for food.
On the last stretch of road, we were greeted by three large stags feeding right in the middle of the road — leftovers from the car ahead, it seemed!
But the real heart-stopper - the highland cow who took a direct interest in our vehicle, horns and all, and decided to walk straight at us, right down the centre of the track. Passing was… let’s say intimate. I’m fairly sure its horns came within millimetres of our paintwork.
Final advice: if you’re coming, maybe don’t bring the new car. Or at least make sure your insurance excess is low! That said, it was a 10/10 experience — great views, cute animals, memorable & wild.
Cost $75 + car wash!
