点评:This has to be one of the top ten beaches in the world!! This was our second trip and was better than the first - mostly due to the weather. We got a relatively calm day (wind-wise) and came about 2 hours before low tide. I would recommend coming closer to low tide so you can get a better view (closer) to tidal pools to watch the seal pups splash and play. Amazing show!!! The walking trail from the parking lot took us about 20 minutes. The last part of the beach hike is through beautiful sand dunes (my husband’s favorite part). We watched the seal pups play and saw several adult seals laying around. Last time we went it was too windy and we didn’t walk down the beach to see the Arch but we did this time and it is quite impressive. The walk to the beach through several landscapes (forested/sheep grazing on hills) is charming (a few English type stiles to cross fences) and easy. The road in from Collingwood has over 10+ one way bridges and the last three miles (or 3 Km?) is dirt but in relatively good shape. Do check the weather and tidal charts before going and swimming is a no-no (too rough/strong currents). Also - if you like this, be sure to check out the Farewell Spit tours. Not a big bus person but the tour is not to be missed and the only way to see more of this piece of NZ!
