点评:When I put Meguntacook Lake into the GPS, it took us to the Fernalds Neck Preserve. It looks like you’re on private property until you reach a small parking area. We hiked the orange trail because it stayed closest to the lakeshore. There are many pretty viewing spots, including Balance Rock. This is a moderately difficult trail. There’s some minor uphill hiking but the footing is tricky. The path is laced with exposed tree roots and rocks. In some places, you need to scramble up over some boulders, but it was doable for two people in their early 60s who aren’t frequent hikers. Take one of the walking sticks that others leave at the trailhead. My husband did, and I wished I had. The trails are well marked with paint splashes on trees. After we first set out, we didn’t encounter anyone else for the entire hike. A nice change from the Acadia crowds!
