点评：Built in the neo-Gothic style for the 1913 World's Fair, this railway station shows off magnificent murals and ceiling paintings when you enter its historic entrance hall. There is a wide transit tunnel that leads to the 12 platforms and this is where it can get dicey with all the construction happening to improve access and platform design to accommodate the increasing number of passengers using it. I found it clean, with escalators and elevator working, appreciated the helpful single staff person (his English was great) working the ticket office when we had problems figuring out how to use the ticket machines to make daytrips to places like Brugge. We did not find the Lijnwinkel office which is aways from the main entrance (unlike the train ticket office) but we did find their yellow ticket machines outside the Station by the tram stop so we could buy tickets to get on the tram to get to the city centre (10-15 min ride). Washrooms are clearly signed as well as eating venues, storage lockers, and you can rent bikes here too! Despite the construction areas (which are clearly fenced), this Station was relatively easy to navigate (we just followed everyone else through the tunnel), felt fairly safe (it was daylight hours though), and has waaay more character than the Brugge Train Station. The Ghent station also has an underground car park. The Millionaires' Quarter is nearby for an interesting walk on architecture. The St. Peter's district (Quartier Sint-Pieters) outside the Station has lovely shops, eateries, bakeries and bookstores. Love it!! Just watch where you are walking as it can be very busy and you need to cross over tram tracks if you want to catch the tram or visit the food truck nearby.
