点评:My boss gave me for Christmas a $120 gift card to attend a cooking class with my daughter. She also gave one to another employee.
I was excited to do an activity with my daughter. We signed up for the cappelletti pasta stuffed with butternut squash class on Wednesday, February 7th. Earlier in the day I had emailed the restaurant to find out if we should eat first to be prepared or if we would be sampling some of the food there but did not receive a reply.
I showed up around 5:30 and was told that could not go into room until 5:55. So hung around a bit waiting for my daughter. We then were seated a a long table, one of three. Someone did go around asking us if we wanted something to eat or drink and we ordered a pizza and drinks. The instructor stood in front of the first long table and proceeded to described the ingredients on our table and how to make the dough and then after how to fold it. There were two big screen tvs above her on both sides and they were not on. (I did see a class one time when was shopping there and the tvs were on). It was hard to see the instructor going through the steps. There were some helpers going around but only to clean off the table surfaces or to take food orders. It would have been nice if there was a helper overseeing each long table to see that we were all able to follow through with the instructions. There were pasta machines at the end of each table so we did have to wait our turn to put our dough through which took a while. The instructor stated that we had to roll out our dough first a bit and there was a rolling pin at each machine except for the third table and they would have to share. I couldnt believe I heard that for William and Sonoma was right next door and they sell kitchen tools. Considering we paid $65 a person for the class they could have spent some of that money on an additional rolling pin. My daughter and I thought that was tacky. Also the instructor showed us how to make the browned sage sauce for the pasta so we could make it at home. I would also think considering the price we paid for the class we could have brought home a little container of it for they also sell it in their market. I had to go out and buy salted butter and sage of which I do not have at home.
Later in the class the helpers put out ravioli for all to have some of. If I had known that I would not have purchased food.
All in all a nice night out with my daughter could have been better. I went back to the office and told my co-worker about it and told her I hoped it was just an off night. Too many students with not enough helpers helping with instruction.
