Friendly but ultimately disappointing

点评：I booked a full day coach tour from a cruise ship to Grand Bassam and Abidjan. The itinerary looked very good, but in the end the experience was average at best. I give the company credit for safely transporting the group to Grand Bassam and getting us back to the port early.
I was disappointed in the transport used. It seems like the company decided to book too large a group. So instead of the usual 22 passenger coaster vans used in other ports (and used by other groups that booked with the same company), we were put in a bus with more than 30 people. The bus had 5 across seating (3-2) though fortunately it was not so packed that 3 people had to sit in one row. But of course the seats were narrow. This would have been acceptable, but the windows were dark and looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. There was no clear view of anything, and some windows even had a frosted coating on them that made them semi- opaque. On the plus side, the bus had working air conditioning.
There was no speaker system on the bus, so it was a challenge to hear the guides. We had 2 friendly and helpful gentleman as guides. They were able to somewhat overcome the sound situation by having them relay the information from the front of the bus to the back.
The company offered ample supplies of chilled water, some soft drinks, and even had beer available. There was a “snack” offered in the afternoon which was thoughtful but I don’t think many people ate it. The snack was a selection of savory warm meat and pastry items. But we were an hour late in picking them up and it was impossible to tell how long they had been out in the heat. And vegetarians could not eat them.
The itinerary itself was not completed. Traffic was bad, so we were first told we would only have 5 minutes at the craft market. Then the craft market was cancelled entirely even though we were there. Apparently we needed to get there to pick up the snacks, but then had to move along to the plateau. We didn’t pass by all the things on the list for the plateau, though as they were just drive bus in a bus with low visibility I guess it didn’t matter.
