WALK-IN CAMPING WAS EASIER THAN EXPECTED

点评：We stayed at site #19, parking was about 50 steps away and there was a nice path to get all of your gear to the site. If you have a lot, I recommed bringing your own wagon. Just two of us, large tent, 2 cots, sleeping bags, cooler, kitchen supplies, screen tent, canpoy over firepit (just in case of rain). It is situated along a row of trees to the left (Southeast side) and Back (Northwest side). A few well placed limbs allowed us some shade from the July sun from 12 noon - 3pm. then sunny from 3-7ish when sun dropped behind trees. The bathhouse was gorgeous and well kept. Lots of individual toilets and some are in with the private showers too. No waiting and there is ambient light for nighttime trips. The site did not have water, but it was available just 20 feet away, hand pump. There was parking to the east and west of the sites 19-22 which are the 'walk-in' sites. but not much of a walk at all. The camp host and his family were kind and made many trips throughtout the day/early evening checking on things since it was 109 degrees with the heat index. We managed, but day two we packed at dawn and made our way home..... no more tent camping in July unless we are in the Artic. We already have reservations for this fall so we can fully enjoy the newest VA STATE PARK.
