Surprisingly good experience!
Machicomoco State Park的点评
点评：I'm not sure why I didn't have high hopes when going to this park today, but it was a very good experience.
The lady at the entrance station was super helpful and my wife and I drove down to see the old home that is being worked on currently, which was nice. We walked down to the platform overlooking a couple of nice creeks, with the York River in the background. It was a nice, cool, clear morning, so the view was great!
We hiked the Loblolly trail, which was was very peaceful. That would be our plan if we go back on a hot day. The trail that is paved and loops around the park will be great on a future visit, but there's not a lot of shade, so maybe we'll tackle that one in the fall or winter.
We didn't really have any bugs to contend with, which surprised us given the proximity to marshy areas.
At the end of our easy hike, we used the restroom at the parking lot. That tidbit of information would never be included in one of our posts, but it was one of the cleanest bathrooms we've experienced in a State Park. It's a newish bathroom, but kudos to the staff for paying such close attention to cleanliness. Much appreciated!
It's a simple, country setting, but has been laid out and managed well!
We'll be back for sure!
