点评:This is a fantastic place to visit but the ticketing staff are very jobs worth. It was actually quite hard to buy a ticket to get in. And they would not accept cash, they would only take bank cards which means you are at the mercy of exchange rates and bank charges.
We did eventually manage to use cash but the price rose by LE100, about £1.50. This happens quite a lot in Egypt and you have to accept it, don't get flustered by it. It oils the wheels for those who are poorly paid.
We were actually the only people here at the time we visited. It was a very hot day, mid 30Cs so do bring water, a hat and sun screen.
As with most temples there was a guardian and they are anxious to show you around. This particular man was very agreeable, spoke some English and showed us places that we would have never found. When we were leaving we tipped him LE100 (£1.50) and he was very happy with that.
Some of the inscriptions here are sexual and some show medical instruments. There is also a Nilometer (a specifically constructed well) which shows how high the river level is.
It is a fairly unique double temple honouring two sets of gods including Sobek the crocodile god. There is a crocodile museum nearby too.
So if you happen to be in the Aswan region this is a very worthwhile place to visit. You can also do it in a day from Luxor quite easily together with other sites.
