Don't miss champagne tour & tasting in stunning art filled caves

点评：VISIT STYLE: unreal eclectic and large collection of underground art exhibits along with the history of the house - some moving exhibits & some stable exhibits. Founded in 1836. A literal wow around every corner. Don’t miss. We did “not” choose the tour that also visited the property’s Villa Demoiselle - just the tour in the cellars - to concentrate on those. Tasting was back on the ground level main building standing at a bar counter. Our tour guide Zoe was wonderful. Not a great boutique. Whimsical large property grounds.
FOOD: They have a restaurant that looks pretty on site. You can decide if you want to eat there or not.
GENERAL: Champagne house tours are very popular so book well ahead (several months). There are a few decisions to make on each house visit:
Am or pm tasting?
English or French?
Which tour to take as to the number of tastings and time?
Is there something unique about this one such that it is not a repeat of the others?
-An iconic moment starts with the walk down the often decorated or lite stone staircase at the start of each tour down to the caves.
I recommend booking the visits in this order (we went to Veuve then Pommery then Ruinart) as the experience “builds”. The main cellars (Veuve, Pommery, Ruinart, Taittinger) are a solid 30 minute walk from the center - all somewhat clustered in the same area to the slight southeast of the Reims Cathedral. We felt very safe walking that far and to this section of Reims in the daytime. After dark we would have called an Uber.
