Disappointing Visit – Poor Communication, Limited Food, and Accessibility Issues
RHS Garden Bridgewater的点评
点评:I visited RHS Bridgewater with my elderly mum, who cannot walk long distances without needing to sit down. We arrived around 2pm and enjoyed part of the garden, but things quickly went downhill when we tried to get a late lunch. At around 3pm we went to the small eatery in the corner of the site and waited at the entrance for a table. We were told they only had cheese and ham paninis left plus cakes — not ideal, but acceptable. After queueing for ten minutes to reach the counter, we were then told they had stopped serving food altogether, except for cakes. This was at 3pm, a full three hours before closing. If we wanted anything savoury or hot, we were told we’d have to walk all the way back to the main entrance café — which is not a short distance when you’re with someone who struggles to walk. When we finally got back to the main café, it looked like they had also stopped serving hot food, only having chilled sandwiches in the fridges. For a major attraction charging premium entry prices, this is simply not good enough. The lack of communication didn’t stop there. Later, when trying to walk a looped footpath, we found it blocked off with Heras fencing. There was no signage at the start of the path, so we had walked all the way along it, only to have to turn back, again, a real issue when visiting with someone who has limited mobility. A simple sign would have prevented this. Overall, the experience left us feeling that visitors aren’t valued beyond the money they bring in. Staff gave contradictory information, basic signage was missing, the implications this has on elderly visitors seems like an afterthought. After battling motorway traffic to get there, we left feeling ripped off and disappointed. I wish we had saved our money and stayed at home.
