点评:We spent a lovely couple of hours here.
The first thing we asked was about its name. It wasn’t at all clear why its name was changed to Audubon when he stayed there for just 4 months; we did ask various members of staff a couple of times.
Later in our road trip there were many other places using his name even more dubiously; just put Audubon into google!
Intro film in visitor center very good, narrator very clear though staff guy almost incomprehensible (we suggested subtitles as at most other places e.g. Vicksburg Military Cemetery)
Have to say some great bird paintings, surprise, surprise.
Intro to cotton and slaves much as we’d seen before, still shocking.
John, the house guide talked very quickly, unlike the lady at Melrose. He was very knowledgeable though and we saw many artefacts of the period, including fascinating old maps.
Great grounds to walk round, especially the kitchen garden.
