The Original Cockney Museum的点评
点评：When in early August 2024 I accessed the Cockney Museum Website, it stated: “We are closed until 1st of March 2024. Due to the high cost of electricity I am closed as I don’t want to pass it on to my loyal customers. I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. George.” That mention of Christmas should have been a warning.
A subsequent entry read: “DAYS OF OPENING EVERYDAY BUT CLOSED ON MONDAYS TIMES FROM 10-30 am till 3-30 pm.” After a fairly long journey, I walked out of Stoneleigh Station just before 2 pm on Tuesday 6 August 2024 and could initially find no sign pointing to the Museum. Eventually, I saw one, standing on the pavement of a side road; it claimed the Museum was open. I stood in front of two joined ramshackle huts, which were locked (photo). Some exhibits and the opening times (photo) could be seen through dusty windows.
A notice confirmed the website’s claim: “Museum cafe and shop: After all that, we’re quite sure you’ll be positively Hank Marvin and looking forward to a good sit down for a bite to eat. You’ll be glad to know that we have a cafe on the premises – and of course we have Manze’s pie and mash & Liquor and also Manze’s apple pie & custard on the menu!”, but that café was not visible. I had deliberately postponed lunch because of this opportunity.
