A blue lake too beautiful and peaceful to miss

点评：For years my husband and I have visited WVa in the fall to see the beautiful colors and see the natural wonders. This year we added Bluestone Lake. I had seen a picture of the beautiful blue water and the almost heaven swing and wanted to see that exact place. As we were already at Sandstone Falls, Bluestone Lake was just to the south. South of Hinton we saw the dam and the lake. It was exactly like in the photo. There were two little boys on the swing and the water was so blue. We didn't have much time so I took some photos and we followed the road right down to the lake where people were putting in boats. We watched people just enjoying the water and the scenery. So peaceful. The state park offers camping, swimming, fishing, hiking , boating and all kinds of outdoor activities. Now for some fun facts. Bluestone State Park was named for the Bluestone River which flows into the New River at the park's location and was established in 1950. The lake was created by Bluestone Dam authorized in the 1930s. We followed the river and dam on route 20 south of Hinton. The lake is the third largest body of water in WV and is named for the deep blue limestone riverbed of its upper reaches in Virginia. Too beautiful and peaceful to miss.
