Beware of hidden additional costs

点评：I had a very bad time with the company "Mercury Rent a car" in Kefalonia.
On the website where I booked I was given an estimate of about €200 to rent a small car for my family (2 adults and 2 little girls). As soon as I arrived at the car rental agency, the saleswoman asked me to immediately pay a deposit of €700 (despite the fact that there was no mention of the deposit on the website). To avoid leaving such a high sum, I was forced in spite of myself to choose the only alternative that was given to me, that is to pay an additional €100 for an additional insurance to cover damage to the car, excluding mirrors and glass. I was also required to pay for an additional car seat for my 4-year-old daughter.
On the last day, due to an unexpected event with my young daughters I returned the car at about 4.30 pm instead of 3 pm, as we had agreed. The saleswoman demanded, speaking loudky, another payment of €41 more, telling me that due to the delay she could not give the car to other customers. Actually when I delivered the car on the square there were at least 5 other cars.
Maybe I was unlucky and found the wrong shop assistant, but anyway I don't recommend Mercury Rentacar Cefalonia.
Pay close attention to the contract and additional costs that are not communicated in advance, which among other things are only sent later via email and not at the time of picking up the car. From a cost estimate of about €200 I had to spend almost twice as much: €370
