British Normandy Memorial的点评
点评：This was a visit we simply had to make, having seen the scale of it during the celebrations last year, and it did not disappoint. The memorial brings home the sheer scale of the event with 334 pillars of more than 22,000 names. Its is so very tastefully done. The 'Standing with Giants' exhibit is the field between the memorial and the beach is, in many ways better than the memorial itself. Almost 3000 'soldiers' spread around the field make you feel as though they are real people really there and that you are among them. It is very emotional.
The memorial is easy to get to, and an easy drive west of Caen. There is a fee for parking - which goes towards the upkeep of the site - but otherwise entry is free to both the memorial and the adjacent small exhibition room. There is a small café which is good and not overly expensive.
