Exploring the Ancient Hill-Top Town of Treia...

点评：Piazza Della Repubblica, with its horseshoe shape and panoramic balcony overlooking the countryside, is the most scenic spot in Treia. We headed straight here when we first arrived.
Treia is a tiny hill-top town, positioned high up on top of a ridge. The piazza almost hangs off the hill-side, affording it the most magnificent view across the Marche countryside.
From here we could look out across green farming fields, out to Monte Conero, the Sibillini mountain range and the Adriatic Sea.
Treia’s most significant buildings are all clustered around the square. They include the Accademia Georgica, the Town Hall (which houses the Civic Museum), and the Church of Filippo Neri.
Don’t be put off by the relatively austere facade of the church - it’s much grander and quite decorative inside.
A statue of Pius VI dominates the piazza and a large, blue marble fountain stands in the centre. The fountain is very ornate. Water spouts from the mouths of winged dragons and tumbles down from a tall central basin. Each dragon holds a shield with Treia’s coat of arms - two flowers (stylised roses?) above three mountains.
Unfortunately, the number of cars parked in the piazza detract enormously from its charm. It’s essentially one giant carpark. If it wasn’t for this, it would be one of the prettiest piazzas in the region.
