Good value and good access

点评：We stopped at the waterfalls on our way from La Fortuna to Monteverde. After reading reviews about rough roads and steep trails, we were pleasantly surprised with pretty regular conditions for CR backroads, with pretty well maintained gravel ranch roads for access. You will need 4x4 for access to the lower parking area closest to the trailheads. On the day we visited we were the only ones there. The young lady at the reception area told us the Australian cattle dog at her feet would be our tour guide. He was awesome! He ran ahead of us on the access road, barking encouragement to keep us moving. When we arrived at the parking area, he led us down each of the paths to the waterfalls and jumped in with us to enjoy the water. Then , when we were finished, he posed for pictures with us and led us back the access road to the reception building. The falls were enjoyable and there was a space at the trailheads to change and use a very basic restroom, as well as fill water bottles and wash up (potable water). There was no trash and the trails were pretty well maintained, but the location is remote and you will need to be prepared to get muddy and hike some. We noticed broken window glass at the upper parking area on the ground; take precautions if you have valuables in your car or ask to have your luggage watched over at the reception area before heading back to the falls. Definitely worth the stop and a good value for the cost of entry. We spent about 2.5 hours there and saw all 4 waterfalls.
