点评:This was an interesting activity to do with the kids. It gave them the opportunity to bring theory learnt at school into life.
At the time of writing in 2025 it was only open on a Saturday. There is a small free car parking space which is about a 3 minute walk from the site. The cost of the entrance was £5 for an adult and £2.50 for a child. We bought tickets at the site.
The reception staff were genuine in their welcome, and provided a clipboard for the kids to tick off objects as they went along. This meant that they were not passive when looking into cabinets filled with artefacts.
The excavated site of the Roman bath is about the size of a large swimming pool, with a surrounding platform was filled with activities and objects from everyday roman life such as board games, sun dials, food and drink, as well as the obligatory photo opportunity to dress up in a toga or as a Roman legion. The fact that you could pick up some of the objects added to the multisensory aspect of the visit.
So go on… cross the Rubicon and learn about Roman life.
