点评:The Boardwalk Loop is the most popular trail at Congaree National Park. It is approximately 2.5 mi/4 km in length and is over a flat boardwalk, so it is accessible. My wife and I hiked this trail on a drizzly Monday in May 2025.
TIP #1: Check the Current Park Conditions board at the Visitor Center before starting, as the trail is sometimes closed due to flooding. TIP #2: Pick up a self-guided tour pamphlet by the Visitor Center that will note points of interest that are marked with numbers along the trail.
The trailhead is behind the Visitor Center. The trail itself is signed, fairly easy to follow, and allows for close-up views of the hardwood forest, which on the day we went was partially flooded, adding to its distinctiveness. The trail is neither difficult nor strenuous, but there are benches along the way in case you’d like to take a rest. Unfortunately, we were unable to complete the loop as a portion of the trail was closed for repair.
The Boardwalk Loop Trail is a very good introduction to the uniqueness of Congaree National Park and is the closest thing to a “must do” there is in the Park.
