点评：From cemetery to world-class park, that pretty much summarizes Montjuic Park's transformation journey since the medieval age. Meaning 'Jewish Mountain' in English, this naturally wooded hill in the bustling heart of the city started life as a Jewish cemetery, and has been used for different purposes over the centuries, from a quarry supplying stones used to build some of the city's most iconic landmarks to a military fort and site of the 1929 World's Fair. Today, this broad hill with a relatively flat top is a God-sent sprawling green lung dotted with gardens, a castle, art gallery, museums, and sports stadiums (including what are left from the 1992 Olympic Games). It is the perfect place for locals and visitors to escape the urban chaos without the need to travel too far. Furthermore, although the hill goes up to an elevation of 185 metres, it is easily accessible via buses, funicular or the Port Cable Car. Within the park, there is the Montjuic Cable Car that connects certain key attractions although the place is best enjoyed by walking, with various vantage spots for some of the best sweeping views of the city and harbourfront below. This is one place that should be in everyone's Barcelona's itinerary, be it to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, or simply to enjoy the city's cultural, artistic and natural beauty collectively.
