点评：We are in our 60's and this walk was advertised as 'moderate'. I wouldn't describe it as a walk. It is a hike. I'm a weed when it comes to steep ascents and even more so, the matching steep descent, I have a low threshold to hanging on to neighbouring rocks for security and I used my hands quite a bit on this hike! Not that much of the route is steep, but its worth a mention for the less confident walker. Other, more sure footed hikers I'm sure are able to hop from one rock to another - but not me. It was however, achievable and very enjoyable. It's not all rocks and boulders, there are plenty of stretches that are easy walking paths. There are ropes to hold on to across large boulders, a bouncy raft bridge and wooden walkways across the longer, impossible bits.
We did this hike in late September and we only met a few people en route. It is not a route for wet weather and sturdy footwear is a must.
We started our walk in Vernet les Bains having caught the bus from our accommodation in Villefranche de Conflent. We returned the same way. In total from VlB centre and back again, it took us over 2 hours including a snack stop at the waterfall and we traversed a total of almost 5km (3 miles).
We did this hike in late September and we only met a few people en route. It is not a route for wet weather and sturdy footwear is a must.
