A Few Tips About the Navajo Welcome Center

点评：Driving along Route 163 you will eventually come to a “roundabout.” It is at this location is a Navajo Welcome Center. In 1984 when a friend and I drove through Monument Valley to go to Los Angeles, this Welcome Center was not built as of yet.
Built in 2008, The Welcome Center is operated by the Navajo Nation. You will see interesting pictures, find unique stories and obtain most information that you may need.
At the time of our visit, there were a number of art & craft booths set up outside.
We did find the bathrooms to be clean and welcoming.
If you go “south” from the “roundabout” you will head to the famous “View Hotel” and the 17-mile loop unpaved road. The hotel was built in 2009. There will be a charge of $10 per person. There is a toll booth half-way.
We had no problem in paying this money as it goes towards the Navajos. Also, there is spectacular beauty at the end of the paved road that was discovered by photographers long ago.
There is a small deli at the hotel and a rather large gift shop. The views from the hotel are indeed spectacular.
For another $15 or so dollars, you can drive your own vehicle on the 17-mile loop road into the Valley. There are some steep areas and rough bumps along the way. Overall, not bad. Our low-riding rented 2026 Honda Accord made it with just two hits under the carriage.
Jeep Tours can be arranged. The 2–3-hour tour will cost anywhere from $65 to $85 dollars per person. About half of the vehicles in the valley were self-driven, while the other half were tours. The experience is something you will not forget.
