点评:Monday 21st July we visited the Town of Maddalena on the Sardinian island of the same name.
This is one of the small Piazzas in the Town, it is named in honour of Giuseppe Garibaldi, a leading figure in the reunification of Italy.
He also lived of the nearby Island on Caprera. Garibaldi retired there in 1854 and where he lived until his death in 1882.
At the heart of the Piazza is a curved stone bench with a bronze statue of Giuseppe Garibaldi. This was commissioned in 2011 to commemorate the 150th year of the reunification of Italy.
Around the Piazza are a number of shops, restaurants as well as some beautiful bulidings including Mercado Civico (Civic Market) and Plazzo Comunale (Town Hall).
It is interesting to see the mixture of the old and new buildings around the Piazza. Nice area to stroll through.
