点评：Coldplay Candlelight Concert at Guildford Cathedral. The building is impressive and I'm sure the performers are very capable in their own right, but this venue is not suitable for amplified pop music, and the performance was dreadfully amplified and mixed. Big boomy reverbs all over the place. There were noticeable drum kit echos off the walls. There was a complete absence of mid tone; couldn't clearly hear the vocals except for the high notes, the guitar solos were lost in a wall of noise, and the strings were almost inaudible unless solo. My sound meter was repeatedly showing 98dB, so if you were there too and had ringing ears afterwards, that's why. For a 2 hour gig, even with a break in the middle, this was dangerously loud. As for candlelight; the numerous battery powered candles on stage looked a bit like a certain area in an Ikea showroom. Coldplay's music has the power to move you, there was none of that, so we left at the interval. It seems others did too. For the surprisingly high price (I fell off my chair when my wife told me the price afterwards), am very disappointed and feel ripped off. Won't be attending a gig at this venue, or a Candlelight Concert ever again.
