点评:What a privilege it was to taste with Andrew, owner of the pedigreed winery, Poonawatta! What makes a good wine tasting? Yes, the wines, of course but what elevates it is the host. We spent over 2 hours, I think, leisurely tasting over 10 wines, going deep into winespeak (we're students of wine) and his generosity shone through with his sharing of information and giving us the opportunity to try some wines from super old vine cuttings from 1880! He allowed for side by sides which was great for us to appreciate the differences in vintages and winemaking processes.
We enjoyed a cheese platter which he gave us a doggie bag for as we couldn't finish it. Although the enthusiastic doggies on site were more than willing to help us with that!
Andrew very kindly also helped make a call to our next tasting at Henschke as we were having to much of a good time with him and were running late.
We walked away with a 2021 The Cuttings Shiraz, made from the original 1880 Shiraz vineyard.
We have just finished our trip around Mclaren Vale, Barossa and Adelaide Hills and Poonawatta was among the best tasting experiences we have had. Thanks Andrew!
