点评：We had spotted Narmada Winery among the many wineries in the region near Shenandoah National Park. We had been looking for other activities beyond exploring Shenandoah National Park. It was their backstory and the opportunity to try pairing wines with Indian food that intrigued us. As outlined on TA and their website the Patil family is definitely not one would expect to transition from the engineering and medical fields to oenology and viticulture. Especially as a retirement plan. They have done so nevertheless and despite being a young winery - producing wines only since 2009 - their wines have been the recipients of many awards and medals.
Unfortunately we couldn’t make it there on the weekend to sample their Indian food. For visitors not so inclined Narmada offers traditional charcuterie and cheese plates. We visited nonetheless on a weekday afternoon. There was one employee who readily filled us in on the story of the winery and the Patil family, explained the wines and promptly set up our flights of red and white wines. We did find most fruit-forward and wondered if the wines’ full potential would have been more on display if paired with food. We sipped our wines out on the wrap-around porch enjoying the crisp fall air and view of the vineyard.
If in the area again I would definitely make an effort to visit on a weekend for a chance to pair the wines with their Indian dishes and enjoy the live music on offer.
