点评:Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this very well laid out gallery of impressive Spanish orientated art. The building is imaginatively repurposed (once a bank) & extended; it's accessible with a wheelchair ramp entrance, lifts to all floors & disabled loo.) Much of the art is faith related but even to an atheist like me the quality & skill of art is fascinating & very enjoyable. My favourite area has to be the exquisitely tiled & colourful room on the 4th floor, also containing spectacular 3D printed reproductions of various artefacts. Room guides were friendly & informative. There's no cafe or refreshments in the gallery but if you want to continue the Spanish theme there's a Tapas restaurant next door. We used our annual tickets purchased for Auckland Castle, part of The Auckland Project, which entitles you to entry to the Spanish Gallery & other nearby venues. Super value even if you just visit once. We live near enough to visit often & I will definitely return to this gallery. I must mention the philanthropy of Jonathan Ruffer whose generosity & vision has driven The Auckland Project which founded this gallery & which is such a positive asset for Bishop Auckland.
