点评:Wasn’t properly prepared, plus couldn’t persuade anyone else to accompany me - therefore didn’t have any more than a safe paddle here, but will definitely return in readiness.
However, I really think it’s absolutely brilliant that these tidal pools (we knew them as trinkies) are having a resurgence in popularity, and being lovingly restored and looked after by community volunteers.
And this one’s location is wonderful with the view overlooking the Firth of Forth and the Isle of May.
Apparently back in it’s heyday of the 1930s, the main rectangular tidal pool had a slide and a diving board, and it was once the site of swimming galas, model boat sailing competitions, and the Sea Queen Festival.
The maximum depth of the large pool is approximately 1.8 metres, and not only swimmers, but paddle-boarders & canoeists can also make use of it.
There’s also a small shallow pool for children, and a children’s play-park beside it.
Handy hooks are all along the back wall where you can hang your clothes/ towels etc.
Public toilets are nearby on the Toon Green, there’s a sauna-box for hire if you want to warm up quickly , and food & refreshments can be got from The Skinfie just up from the pool. What else do you need…?
