点评:It must’ve been 50+ years since my last train ride, so long that I can barely remember it. I do recall climbing in the train & someone talking to me, but I have no memory of that train ride. My BIL took me there as he worked for the owner at the time, & I was told that I could have as many rides as I liked. We went to collect the takings, which was all in change, & very heavy, & so exciting.
I’ve never forgotten Fairbourne Railway, & longed to return. We loved the model railway where you put a coin in, & off it goes. I know, we’re grown ups, but you must get your thrills whilst you can at our age. The model railway that we saw through the glass in the shop was very impressive too, although I wasn’t sure if the public was allowed in there. We got our souvenirs, had coffee & cake in the shop, & a chat with the lovely lady who worked there. I want that job! We got our own private carriage, & looked forward to getting off at the end of our journey & seeing the view. Unfortunately, it rained so much which was really something to see, but we didn’t get off the train due to this. I felt so sorry for all the people who were getting soaked standing there, not sure if they’d just come across on the ferry or were waiting to go back to Barmouth. The guard was soaked too, but he just got on with his job, whilst looking lovely, smiling & waving at us all. It did stop raining for our return journey, woohoo we saw the sand dunes, & the magnificent Barmouth Bridge. I’ll be back & take this ride again in the spring.
