Fannie Bay Gaol的点评
点评：A fascinating place to visit from the moment you arrive and are greeted by the (very helpful) receptionist/guide. There is no entry fee but a donation is helpful (not demanded) for the upkeep of this attraction. It is a self guided tour, map provided with numbered markers showing when to listen to the audio. Once you have downloaded the QR code you can embark on a very detailed explanation of the history and purpose of the Gaol. You probably need about 90 minutes for an in depth look at this place and the map helps to orientate you along the way. It was very easy to get there on the free bus services that run from the centre of Darwin.
When we were there it was very quiet which made the tour extremely easy as there were 3 of us listening to the audio without headphones - would be more tricky to do that if there were more people around.
There are limited opening hours so check the details before you travel there.
Make sure you have water with you. Can be very hot to walk around and, although there is a water station near the end of the tour you need to keep hydrated.
The helpful lady also suggested that we visit the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory which also houses the Cyclone Tracey exhibition. This is on the bus route back tot he centre of Darwin so very easy to fit in and has longer opening hours.
