点评:The landscape at Lake Mungo and surrounds is quite unbelievable! The sense of deep time is quite profound. It seemed odd to be spotting tools and artifacts last used by First Nations people thousands of years ago. I particularly enjoyed the session with the aboriginal ranger with her wide knowledge of the past and her respect for her ancestors. I would have liked more sessions on the life of the original inhabitants.
Amanda, our guide, was great, too. She handled all the practical details of our trip with aplomb and displayed an encyclopedic knowledge of the birds we encountered. I loved the fact that we had a small group of like-minded enthusiasts.
The most surreal experience of the trip was giving a very thirsty wild kangaroo a drink from a hose at the ranger's station. I loved being able to see a 360 degrees view of the horizon and also the spectacular sunsets.
