点评:First visit to The Greenway - a half spa day. Lots of staff around upon arrival, was asked to take a seat, complete form, someone would come & get me. Waited 10 mins, nothing, took form back. Was told again to take a seat & wait. After another 10 mins I got fed up so went back to desk to ask what I was waiting for & could I just have a robe. Very apologetic, gave me robe & quick overview. Incidentally robe had shrunk & was pretty old. I’m 8m pregnant but the arms were 3/4 length & I doubt it would’ve fitted anyone larger than a size 12. Requested a men’s XL which eventually arrived some time later & was a slight improvement.
What struck me on entering the poolside was the sheer heat! I’ve visited a lot of spas, primarily 5*s so was prepared for some differences but the heat was such that I couldn’t spend much time in there. The pool felt cool in comparison which was unusual. Pool area clean, shame they allow phone calls to be taken but more a reflection of other guests than staff. On a safety note, pregnant guests really should be advised what they can and cannot use. I’m pretty well versed but some might not be & there was no mention by staff of not using the steam room/hot tub etc which I would think should be standard practice.
Pedicure was done well although an uncomfortable process having to hold foot up on a sloping bed for so long - I got cramp a few times. A flat bed or the therapist simply holding your foot for stability with your leg in a relaxed position would have been so much better. I was really struggling by the end and just wanted it to be over.
Afternoon tea was…okay. I wasn’t expecting The Langham but would’ve been nice had the waitress told me it was loose leaf tea & drawn my attention to the strainer before I poured myself a cup of bits. Sausage roll was unpleasant, tuna wrap a bit weird, scones were hot but took 20mins to come out. Would’ve been nice to have been offered more tea throughout (tiny pot) or another drink of some kind.
And that was it, bit of a conveyor belt. Wasn’t sure if I was allowed to use the facilities again after tea but it was too hot anyway so I just went. Have returned home feeling like I haven’t really been to the spa but just had a very full on afternoon instead. Sadly won’t be returning or recommending, shame as I’m so local. Wanted to try somewhere different but will stick to my Calcot/Whatley Manor combo in the future, all for a similar cost but substantially better experience.
