点评:I went for a 2-mile walk to see the beautiful murals on the "Color Me SXM - Philipsburg Art Walk". First I downloaded a map with 21 murals shown on it. Then I walked through Philipsburg to see as many as I could.
The murals add a bit of colour to the city. Among them were "A Fisherman's Tale" by Claudio Arnell and "I Love SXM" by Tes and Annabelle Verkeij. You can tell which Caribbean island you are on by looking at the lizards. Each island has its own species of lizard. "Only in SXM" by Christford Shillingford shows the Bearded Anole Lizard, found only in Sint Maarten.
The reason the Dutch claimed Sint Maarten was because of the large salt pond here. Salt was very important to preserve food before the invention of refrigerators. The Arawak Indians called the island "Soualiga", land of salt. Cindy Choisy's mural is titled "Soualiga". The national bird of Sint Maarten is the Brown Pelican. Adam G painted the mural of this beautiful bird.
While you are walking, don't miss the statues in the centre of the roundabouts. Two nearby ones are "The Salt Pickers" and the "Freedom Fighter".

其中就包括Claudio Arnell的《渔夫的故事》(A Fisherman's Tale)和Tes与Annabelle Verkeij创作的《我爱SXM》(I Love SXM)。 Christford Shillingford创作的《唯有SXM》(Only in SXM)描绘了仅在圣马丁岛发现的须蜥(Bearded Anole Lizard)。
