Memorial To A Faithful Daughter的点评
点评：Councillor, Cr W. Royle was very active in the Essendon area. Royle, J.P., unveiled the Book of Remembrance donated by him which contains the 615 names of the men of the 58th Battalion who fell in France during the Great War at an event to open the war memorial to the men of the 58th Battalion, A.I.F. in 1935. On the 21st December,1917 the honour roll was unveiled at Essendon High School by Cr. W. Royle. From 1923-24 he was Essendon Football Club President. But with all of his own achievements this memorial is not about him.
The memorial is a humble and rather sweet one. This memorial was presented to the citizens of Essendon in 1936 in memory of his sister- Mrs Maud Ripper who died in that same year on the 4th July.
It simply states, " A faithful daughter who devoted her life to her parents".
Maud was daughter of Samuel Royle and Elizabeth (Reeve) Royle. Sister to Mary Hannah (Royle) Crossman, Jane (Royle) Nankervis, John Royle, Elizabeth Ann (Royle) Wilson, Samuel Royle, Unnamed Royle, William Royle, James Royle and Amy Royle.
