Fantastic chalet with spectacular views
Woodpecker Educational Tours的点评
点评：One of the nicest places we have stayed during our trip throughout Panamá and Costa Rica, and at a ridiculously low price. Lovely chalet, stupendous views and the perfect hosts.
Ideal as a base for both Monteverde (about 10 km) and Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserves (about 6 km).
The cabin is a decent size, with an open plan bedroom, lounge and kitchen on one floor and a second bedroom upstairs. Also a lovely (small) veranda.
Everything sparkling clean and in perfect condition.
The most amazing feature is the view; an uninterrupted vista overlooking Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and the plains stretching down to the Pacific Ocean.
The chalet is perched high on a hillside, but just behind it, and slightly higher, is a lookout point - great for sunsets and with even clearer views of the Pacific Ocean and Gulf of Nicoya.
Behind this is the Woodpecker Reserve, 45 hectares of nature owned and managed by our host, Dinia, and her family, where we were free to wander and explore at our leisure.
Dinia was always on hand to help us, give us advice and answer our questions about the area.
Donald, her husband, is one of the more experienced guides in the region. He led us on a night walk through the Woodpecker Reserve; it was fascinating to learn about the frogs, tarantulas, birds and other critters.
Woodpecker Reserve is heavily involved in environmental education; by staying here we felt that we were supporting an excellent cause.
Note that if you’re arriving from La Fortuna via Tilleran, the last 20 km of road is terrible. It’s currently passable with a 4x4 or SUV but takes more than an hour.
Also, it’s not the easiest place to find. Make sure you have clear instructions
