Spectacular Lily Lagoon just outside Longreach, Qld
Lily Lagoon的点评
点评：Absolutely stunning place to visit, particularly at sunrise or sunset (but at those times, be particularly careful on the roads). The lilies are particularly amazing in May and particularly after a good wet season. Lily Lagoon is fed by the Thomson River.
This place is easy to reach from Longreach, but not shown on Google Maps. I was driving an SUV, but it would have been readily accessible in an ordinary car provided that it has not been recently raining. Here are my directions: Head out of Longreach on the Winton Road, turn right at the Cramsie-Muttaburra Road (which also has a sign for Starlight's Lookout) and continue past the saleyards and the railway line. After 5 minutes, turn right again onto a well-formed gravel road with signage to Starlight's Lookout. About 5 minutes along this road, there is a rather faded brown sign on the right for Lily Lagoon and you turn right again here onto a rough track. Only a few minutes along this rough track, you reach Lily Lagoon and there are multiple side tracks along the lagoon. In my opinion, the prettiest part is along the track to the left.
Apart from the lagoon itself, I also enjoyed finding birds, more along the Starlight's Lookout Road, rather than right at the lagoon.
The first time we visited, we were the only people there. The second time, we saw two people go past in kayaks. Very quiet. The lagoon had perfect mirror reflections.
