Very average spa with limited facilities, overpriced
The Spa at Oulton Hall的点评
点评：I booked a spa day for my husband and I to relax and feel pampered, however, we found Oulton Hall quite disappointing. The facilities and space is just so far behind other 'luxury' spas we have visited.
The pool itself is big enough, but the space around it is shocking, the chairs are about 30cm off the edge of the pool, making it very hard to pass. Floors are very wet & slippery because there's so little walkway, and no sweeping/cleaning throughout the day. There are no reclining / lounger chairs in the pool area which is also a major disappointment when you want to relax with a book in a comfy chair. One small clock at one side of the pool, but otherwise difficult to know the time without carrying a phone around with you.
The sauna and steam room were average - no hot coals to increase heat and it wasn't as hot as you would expect a sauna to be, and the steam room didn't feel very clean / sanitary. No outdoor facilities.
The restaurant is about a mile away from the spa area, and you have to walk through the hotel, past many bedrooms - quite strange. Admittedly the lunch is advertised as a 'light lunch' but it is just salad and you pay extra for chips (£4.50!!).
Towards the end of the afternoon, private swimming lessons started to take place in the pool with floats and equipment on the side of the pool - not what we would expect at all from a spa experience.
The gym also overlooks the pool directly, which is a little off-putting.
We both had a back massage which was a pleasant experience, but probably the best part of the day.
Staff were reasonably pleasant but no-one going above and beyond. Overall, I wouldn't recommend if you are looking for a real treat day - there are much nicer places for not too much for money, which are actually worth it.
