A Peaceful Ruin Away From the business of Kendal town. Needs some TLC!

点评：It's a ruin, not a lot to look at, but a peaceful setting away from the hustle and bustle of Kendal town.
We parked in the shopping centre car park in Kendal then made our way from the town to the castle ruin. It's quite a hike, and the signage from the town to the castle is a bit hit and miss. The route to reach the castle has you walking through an industrial area, passing a recycling plant and up a very steep wooded climb, which needs some serious repairs to the steps, and non-existent handrails, that were discarded, and finally through some tall grass.
Once we reached the ruin, it was peaceful, with hardly anyone there. Another couple of visitors and the odd dog walker. The surroundings are beautiful, and you can see for miles.
I would have given Kendal Castle 4 stars, but it's not looked after like it should be. This 13th century castle was the seat for the Parr family... Henry VIII's 6th wife no less! The information boards around the site were faded and most had graffiti on them. So much more could be made of this castle, but I guess because it's so far away from Kendal town centre, it's not high on the list of priorities.
Don't get me wrong, we did enjoy our visit, even the climb up the hill. It was an oasis of calm away from the town centre.
