点评:Samuel Slater is considered the father of the American Industrial Revolution. He took his knowledge of manufacturing from Britain to America, which was against the law. Despite personal risk, his ambition as an entrepreneur led him to construct the first successful cotton spinning mill in America in 1790.
The exhibits are impressive: hear the claps of thunder, see the flashes of lightning, and feel the ocean spray on the ship as he crosses the Atlantic. In another room feel the vibration you might’ve experienced in the mill from the powerful water wheels that powered the plant. Holograms are motion activated, bringing characters to life to enact their daily conversations.
The museum takes you through a timeline to the early 20th century. Plan on 1.5 to 2 hours time. My only complaint was a lack of seating in the first half of the self-guided tour, but there were more options for sitting in the second half. The museum will provide a wheelchair on request.
The Museum is located in Webster, Massachusetts, less than a half hour from Worcester.
