点评:Walking along Rua Da Carmo I came across what I thought was Igreja Do Carmo ,the church I was actually admiring was Igreja Dos Carmelitras which is the church to the left looking straight on ,the church to the right is Igreja Do Carmo and they are separated amazingly by the narrowest house in the world called Casa Escondida ,which is said to be one metre wide ,its actually bigger inside but still very cool.
Igreja Do Carmo was constructed between 1756-1768 for the Third Order Of The Carmelites ,constructed from designs from architect Jose Figueiredo Seixas in a magnificent mix of both Baroque and Rococo style architecture, the amazing tiled features on the side of the church were added in 1912 by artist Silvestre Svestri and the tiles were produced in Vila Nova De Gaia, the city across the River Douro facing Porto ,the church is stunning visually both inside and outside and is a major tourist destination, while sipping a beer in a bar facing this church I noticed dozens of people getting that all important " selfie " took with the stunning tiled work as a beautiful backdrop ,all in all a wonderful church to check out if you're planning a holiday to Porto and easy to locate along Rua Da Carmo.
